PLDT opens P1-B data center in Cebu
Telco giant PLDT Inc. opened this week its second data center in Cebu, citing growing demand from businesses.
PLDT, through units ePLDT and PLDT Enterprise, said the new Vitro data center is its 10th in the Philippines.
The company invested some P1 billion in the Cebu facility, which is located in Mandaue City. It will cater to the data needs of local enterprises, including shipping companies, furniture producers and hotels.
“This new state-of-the-art facility is part of the PLDT Group’s nationwide effort to support local organizations and enterprises of all sizes—helping them store, manage and safeguard mission-critical data from cybersecurity threats and physical disasters,” said PLDT chief revenue officer Eric R. Alberto.
PLDT said the new facility came with a maximum of 800 racks, adding to ePLDT’s current 8,300-rack capacity.
The Vitro Network of Data Centers has established presence in key cities and locations across the Philippines such as Makati, Pasig, and Clark economic zone. It also recently opened a data center in Davao.

PLDT said its second Cebu Vitro Data Center was supported by the company’s fiber optic network spanning over 187,000 kilometers.
