NGCP president-CEO retires

National Grid Corporation of the Philippines yesterday announced the early retirement of its president and chief executive, Henry T. Sy Jr., who would be focusing on his real estate business.

Sy is chair of SM Prime Holdings Inc., the largest capitalized real estate concern in Southeast Asia, according to NGCP. SMPH is into the businesses of malls, residential and office buildings, hotels and convention centers.

The power grid operator also said chief administrative officer Anthony L. Almeda was named officer in charge of NGCP in light of Sy’s retirement.

“The board commended Mr. Sy’s seven years of service to the company from its inception to its current status as operator of the country’s power grid,” NGCP said.—RONNEL W. DOMINGO
