Indian business leaders advised to avoid Western Mindanao – Duterte

DAVAO CITY – President Duterte on Saturday said Indian businessmen wanted to come to Mindanao to invest but added he had discouraged them from going to the western side.

“They were the ones who want to come here but I said Zamboanga….the western side just avoid it,” he said.

The western side of Mindanao is where the Abu Sayyaf operates.

The bandit group had been responsible for most kidnappings there, including of foreigners, for ransom.

Duterte said he told the Indian businessmen they can go to other parts of Mindanao, where there is peace, including “Davao City and maybe Butuan City.”
