Machine errors have caused “rare misprints” of the 100-peso “faceless bills,” the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) confirmed Thursday.
In a televised press conference, BSP Managing Director Carlyn Pangilinan said that only 33 pieces of the faceless bills had ever printed and the agency is doing what it takes to retrieve them.
Pangilinan, however, maintained that the issue was an “isolated incident” experienced by few individuals and the BSP had already identified the affected machine and had taken steps to address the case appropriately.
Pangilinan also called on the affected individuals to go to the BSP to have their notes exchanged.
A social media user recently posted on Facebook several pieces of 100-peso bills printed without the face of former President Manuel Roxas. The notes were withdrawn from an automated teller machine (ATM) in Eastwood City in Libis, Quezon City. /jpv
