A joint venture between American agribusiness giant Cargill and homegrown fast food giant Jollibee Foods Corp. (JFC) has inaugurated a new poultry processing facility in Santo Tomas, Batangas, touted as the largest chicken processing facility in the country.
The plant operated by Cargill Joy Poultry Meats Production Inc. (C-Joy) is seen to boost JFC’s supply chain of dressed and marinated chicken while increasing income opportunities for local poultry farmers in Batangas and nearby provinces.
With a processing capacity of 45 million chickens per year, the plant is described as the largest in the Philippines. It is seen to meet the increased demand of JFC brands in the country.
Paul Fullbright, president and CEO of C-Joy said: “Cargill and Jollibee came together… because of our common commitment to the highest standards in product quality and food safety. This is reflected in this new plant which harnesses technology and global experience to deliver tasty chicken products in an environment which is safe.” —DORIS DUMLAO-ABADILLA
