Davao City—What happens when you combine the grace of Thai tradition with the unique Filipino hospitality under one roof? A luxurious experience like no other.
Torre Lorenzo Development Corp. (TLDC) joined hands with Philippine Hoteliers Inc. to showcase this unique blend of grace and heart with the newest and most luxurious address in Davao City: Dusit Thani Residence Davao and dusitD2 Hotel.
Situated off JP Laurel, Lanang in Davao City, the luxury residential complex is a mixed type development. The Dusit Thani Residence Davao and dusitD2 Hotel luxury complex has 174 spacious full-service residence units and 120 hotel rooms tailored fit to suit the excitement of cosmopolitan living laced with leisurely escape.
This will be the city’s first internationally-branded, mixed use residential and hotel development as well as the first luxury accommodation in Davao City. It will also be the first Dusit-branded Residence in Southeast Asia.
“This is Davao’s first luxury five-star development. And when we say luxury and five-star, we mean it. I’m not embarrassed to say that luxury comes with a price. Our price is probably the most expensive you will find in Davao right now because we have all the luxury you can think of. This project rivals international projects,” explained Tomas P. Lorenzo, chief executive officer of TLDC.
Untapped market
Recognizing the potential of Davao City to become the next best international city, TLDC took a great leap of faith to provide a venue of luxury and quality service to an untapped market.
Lorenzo discovered that there was a “market vacuum” for high-end accommodations in Davao City. And as it is fast becoming an international city, Lorenzo thought of taking advantage of this opportunity which no one has yet dared to tread.
“When we envisioned a high-end five-star project for our real estate group, I said that we are going to do it in Davao. And the reaction was a look of disbelief. They thought that Davao was not ready for five-star luxury and I said, ‘the place is full, the hotels are full, people have money. It doesn’t mean that if you’re from Davao that makes you probinsyano.’ So we are (raising) the standards of living in Davao City,” he said.
For Lorenzo, the creation of Dusit Thani Residence Davao and dusitD2 hotel was also a way of giving back to the city: “TLDC chose to do its high-end projects here because we owe it to the city, which has been good to us [through the support it has been giving us].”
Changing the landscape
Given the transformation of Davao City from a quaint locale in the southern part of the Philippines to becoming a highly urbanized city, more multinational companies are setting up shop here.
Lorenzo pointed out that having a five-star development changes the landscape of the service industry here.
“In turn, Dusit will raise the bar and other hotels will be forced to upgrade their accommodation services,” he added.
Set to open its doors in the fourth quarter of 2018, the luxury residential complex draws inspiration from its surroundings and the city’s cultural roots. The lush greenery will provide the backdrop that will frame Dusit Thani’s receiving lobby.
Expats and businessmen who are often on the go are invited to reside in Dusit Thani for an experience that is distinctly Asian with international standards. Residents will have access to housekeeping, laundry and personal concierge services.
Iconic structure, amenities
Evelyn Singson, vice chair and president of the PHI, which owns and operates the Dusit franchise in the Philippines, noted that the management of residential services will not be a challenge for the staff of Dusit Thani.
She said that housing executives of multinational companies will be amazed by the iconic building of Dusit Thani, more so if they discover the amenities that their new home has to offer.
Amenities such as the Dusit Spa, exclusive pools, a private entrance, specialty dining outlets, a business center and fitness area will be readily available for its residents.
It is notable too, that everything in Dusit Thani Residences and dusitD2 hotel were purely made in Davao.
Local suppliers were called upon to showcase the unique artistry and craftsmanship of the Davaoenos. From the doors to the windowpanes, this development mirrors the best of everything that is stamped with Filipino talent and ingenuity.
“The Thai tradition, known for its gentleness, grace, and kindness, will be combined with what is knowingly ours—our vibrancy, gaiety and our warm-heartedness. Leveraging on a seamless combination of traditional Thai and Filipino hospitality for this first-class development means that we will be bringing something more than what can already be found in the city,” Singson concluded.
