Holiday decorating ideas for small spaces

Just because you live in a limited space does not mean you can’t go big on seasonal cheer.

Approach your holiday decor with proportions in mind and you will find that there are lots of festive ways to usher in the Christmas season. Here are some tiny space decorating ideas that will fill your home with much revelry and put you in high spirits for the holidays.

1. TRY A MINIATURE CHRISTMAS TREE
Keep it small and simple. Style your tree with vibrant colorful ornaments, and the daintiest of firefly lights so as not to cramp your pint-size living room.

2. USE WALL ART

If you don’t have space for a Christmas tree, put the tree on the wall. Pin garlands or string firefly lights on the wall in shape of a tree. If you’re feeling crafty, you may paint a tree on the wall or make a decal tree out of stickers, magnets, buttons and other available what-nots.

Decorate coffee and side tables with colorful patterned paper trees or a silver plate filled with Christmas balls, to solve your miniscule space problem. You may also use holiday figurines or Christmas candles as your dining table center piece.

4. USE COLOR WHEREVER POSSIBLE

Going big on color is a surefire way to make a small room look festive. If your limited space has a neutral color palette, adding a few vibrant red or electric blue pieces will definitely put you in a jovial mood.

5. DRESS UP THE CHAIRS

Jazz up your furniture with Christmas flair without taking up extra space. Tie painted pinecones, lightweight Christmas balls, or tiny wreaths to wide ribbons and drape them over the back of your chairs to dress them up. Match the ribbon color to your home decor to create a unified look that’s all your own.

8. GIVE YOUR SHELVES A HOLIDAY MAKEOVER

If you prefer monochromatic designs, adding a few holiday elements can transform your “everyday” décor into a seasonally magical one. Stick removable adhesive hooks to hang ornaments from your bookshelf or cupboard. A simple garland or wreath, firefly lights, and a few pine cones would bring a festive appearance to a basic shelf as well as provide a cheery space to display Christmas stockings. 9. SWAP YOUR EVERYDAY DÉCOR

Instead of adding more, change what you have. Swap your normal everyday décor and tableware with cute seasonal items. Use Christmas-themed throw pillows, mix and match holiday-colored dishes, napkins, coasters, and tablecloths. It leaves you with amount of space, but with more cheer.
