The official importer and distributor of BMW vehicles in the country, Asian Carmakers Corporation (ACC), said the BMW will be the exclusive automobile that will transport delegates during the 31st Summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean).
The ACC was chosen as the Summit’s official premium mobility partner, helping unite the 10-member states at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) and Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga from November 10 to 14.
In a recent ceremony, ACC formally presented the fleet of automobiles that will be used to shuttle world leaders and state envoys across meetings that will culminate this year’s summit.
Among the officials who led the symbolic turn over were members of the Asean 2017 National Organizing Committee Asec. Reginald Bernabe, Asean 2017 National Organizing Committee assistant deputy director general for conference management services; Assistant Deputy Director-General for Operations General Rodelio Santos, Director General for Operations Marciano Paynor, Jr., ACC President Maricar Parco, BMW Group Asia Senior Regional Manager for International Corporate, Direct and Special Sales Thierry Weidenbach, and BMW Group Asia Regional Manager for Corporate, Direct, and Special Sales Remmy Ng.
“We are honored to resume our tour of duty as the premium mobility provider of the 31st Asean Summit in this milestone year. By providing our fleet of BMW luxury vehicles to our world leaders, we strengthen our support to the government’s aspiration for positive change,” said ACC President Maricar Parco.
“We vow to continue fostering economic growth and social progress not only in the Philippines but the entire Asia-Pacific Region by enriching the industry with innovations and strengthening our partnership with the national government,” Parco said.
Visiting dignitaries from Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Brunei, and the Philippines will be ushered by specially commissioned BMW 730Li, BMW 520d, and BMW X5 vehicles.
With the theme of “Partnering for Change, Engaging the World,” the second Asean Summit this year will convene leaders to address the economic and cultural development of region as well as global issues such as climate change, overpopulation, land degradation, and other issues on the environment.
Aside from the Asean-member nations, heads of state and esteemed representatives from dialogue partners like the United States, Russia, Australia, China, India, Japan, New Zealand, and South Korea are also expected at the Summit, which is among the highlights of the country’s chairmanship of the Asean on its 50th anniversary. /jpv
