PLDT defends quality of its network infra

Telco giant PLDT Inc. touted its network infrastructure in a statement over the weekend, amid criticism over the quality of the internet in the Philippines.

The company said its three cable landing stations had received international certification, referring to ISO 22301:2012. It said this was the “highest and most comprehensive international standard for management systems that ensures business continuity.”

The three PLDT cable landing stations that have been ISO certified are the La Union Cable Landing Station in Bauang, La Union; Daet Cable Landing Station in Daet, Camarines Norte; and Batangas Cable Landing Station in Nasugbu, Batangas.

“This ISO certification states that PLDT is well-prepared and equipped to manage the impact of disasters that may affect our cable landing stations which are mission critical facilities in delivering quality voice and data services to our customers,” PLDT chief corporate services officer Ray C. Espinosa said in the statement.

The certification was awarded by TÜV Rheinland, one of the leading recognized providers of technical services worldwide.

“As PLDT continues to expand and modernize its fixed and mobile networks, it is likewise establishing systems and processes that further enhance and ensure resiliency against emerging risks,” PLDT said.
