Casa de Memoria, as the country’s premier source of international and decorative Art, makes your home’s interiors the star of their eighth auction, “The Casa Interiors”. Coming from a successful East-meets-West auction last July, the latest edition of the Casa’s themed auctions now features furniture and home décor from various remarkable periods in design history, all the way from 17th to 20th century Europe and Asia.
The auction starts today at 2 p.m. at the Casa de Memoria Showroom, 156 Jupiter cor. Comet St., Brgy. Bel-Air, Makati City.
“More than being beautiful, the lots to be auctioned carry history and have great stories to tell, especially the furniture” says Angelique Lhuillier, director of Casa de Memoria. She adds, “But these are not just show pieces. All these pieces are meant to be used; this is part of an experience we refer to as The Casa Living.”
Chinese six-fold screen in lacquered wood and cloisonné from the 20th century
Casa de Memoria’s creative director Miguel Rosales acts as curator once again for this collection. Each lot was chosen with the idea of what makes a home in mind, and the wide variety of pieces guarantees that there’s a perfect piece for all kinds of homes—whether it’s modern or classic.
One of the outstanding pieces for auction is a 20th century Chinese six-fold screen in lacquered wood with its six panels that have pierced top and bottom. It also represents motifs of dragon and Chinoiserie in red and gold. On this piece are beautifully made cloisonné sections depicting various Chinese things in vivid palettes.
Another furniture to consider is a mid to late 18th century Chinoiserie bureau cabinet in black lacquered mahogany wood originally hailed from Great Britain. It has multiple compartments, bronze handles and mounts, dovetailed joinery, flamed mahogany interior, and Georgian block bracket feet.
If you are in search for fine dinnerware, there is a 20th century French dinner service set in Limoges porcelain. The beautiful ware is gracefully detailed with foliate and floral motifs in gold. The set carries three marks: B & Co. Limoges France in green; L. Bernardaud & Co. Limoges in red; and a cartouche with texts inside “José Alexandre 8, Rua Garrett, 18 Lisboa.”
A percentage of the proceeds from the #CasaInteriorsAuction will be given to Fighting Hunger With Hunger, a non-profit organization that aims to end hunger by empowering local communities through sustainable entrepreneurship. To know more about them, visit www.fhwh.org.
