Airbus Helicopters Inc. is gearing for a larger share in the civil helicopter market in the Philippines in the next three years.

Lionel Maupeaou, managing director for Airbus Helicopters Philippines Inc., told reporters in a roundtable discussion on Wednesday that they already owned the 50 percent of the market share.

“In the next three years, we hope to be at 60 percent market share so we need 10 percent more,” he said.

More than 70 Airbus helicopters are in the Philippines, with additional six new helicopters due for delivery to clients by end of the year.

Airbus Helicopters has been present in the country for 20 years, with 96 percent of its workforce is composed of Filipinos.

Maupeaou said they will continue to grow the passenger transport and tourism market segments. But at the same time, they will continue to develop the helicopter emergency medical services segment in the Philippines.

He added that there is so much potential in the country mostly in the tourism industry.

Airbus Helicopters Philippines Inc. has 90 percent corporate executives as its customers.
