MANILA, Philippines — Another television company has entered the 3D market, but this time using a technology that seeks to enhance one’s viewing experience.
In a press conference held Monday at the EDSA Shangri-la Hotel, LG unveiled its Cinema 3D using the Film Patterned Retarder or FPR technology, which corrects the usual problems of viewing on 3D.
Cyd Montebon, product marketing head, said LG’s Cinema 3D used polarized film to project different images, which results in flicker-free 3D viewing.
“You can even adjust the depth of the 3D effect,” Montebon said.
The 3D glasses are made of plastic and does not have any electrical wiring so they don’t need batteries, making them four times cheaper than other 3D glasses in the market, said LG chief officer Rey Flores.
Flores said they used the IMAX technology in making the glasses.
They’re even fashionably designed, Flores said.
The glasses are also compatible with other products that uses FPR technology such as mobile TV, laptops and even cellular phones.
Model/VJ Sarah Meier hosted the event.
Aside from Flores and Montebon, other LG officials present were Mr.Seung Chue Lee, manager director of LG Philippines.
