The Motorcycle Development Program Participants Association (MDPPA) is on track to hit its year-end growth target of 12 to 15 percent, a top official said.
Rodel I. Pablo, MDPPA Board of Trustees member, told reporters yesterday that MDPPA sold more than a million units in 2016, up 34 percent from 850, 509 units the year before. A growth of 12 to 15 percent in sales for 2017 means that they would have to sell 1.28 million to 1.31 million units.
Given its target for 2017, latest MDPPA data shows that the group is on track as of the first half of the year. From January to June, member companies sold a total of 613,896 motorcycles, 13 percent up from 544,788 units sold during the same period last year. This accounted for the motorcycle sales of Honda Philippines Inc., Kawasaki Motors Philippines Inc., Yamaha Motor Philippines Inc., Suzuki Philippines Inc. and Kymco Philippines Inc.
