A Brown, Rusatom of Russia explore nuclear solutions
A Brown president Roel Castro, Rusatom president Alexander Merten ink agreement to develop nuclear applications in PH
Holding firm A Brown Company Inc. (ABCI) entered a cooperation agreement with Rusatom International Network (RAIN) of Russia to develop nuclear technologies in the Philippines.
The agreement seeks to develop economic, scientific and technical cooperation in the field of peaceful use of atomic energy. The parties aim to explore areas on application of radiation technologies in industry, agriculture and medicine.
ABCI president and chief executive officer Roel Castro and RAIN president Alexander Merten signed the bilateral memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Tuesday at the International Forum ATOMEXPO 2017, which signified the implementation of the agreements between Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte and Russian President Vladimir Putin on May 25.
“A Brown welcomes this new opportunity to come up with more diverse solutions toward the improvement of the lives and livelihoods of Filipinos,” Castro said in a press statement.
“This cooperation agreement with RAIN is very much in alignment with President Rodrigo Duterte’s government platforms, as well as our company’s commitment to constantly explore business avenues that would facilitate nation-building,” he said.
For his part, Merten said the MOU “opens up great prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation in the development of innovative technologies in the nuclear field.”
Both ABCI and RAIN are hopeful for an increased public awareness among Filipinos about nuclear technologies as well as its applications and impact in the Philippines as well as in other Southeast Asian economies.
The companies expressed their confidence that the strategic nature of cooperation between Philippines and Russia would create possibilities for the implementation of joint projects in the peaceful use of atomic energy for a stronger and economically robust Philippines.
