The launching by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas of the books “Philippine Central Banking: A Strategic Journey to Stability” and “Likha: Enduring Legacies of Filipino Artistry” attracted a multisectoral crowd of bankers, government officials, diplomats, educators, and representatives from the cultural community and the media.
The book Journey to Stability was written by BSP officials with broad and deep experience in the science and the art of central banking: BSP Governor Amando M. Tetangco Jr. wrote about Stability: What it Means for Central Banks; Deputy Governor (DG) Nestor A. Espenilla Jr, on Transformation and Reform of the Banking System; and Deputy Governor Diwa C. Guinigundo on Implementing a Flexible Inflation Targeting. Other writers include Assistant Governor (AG) Ma. Ramona GDT Santiago; AG Dahlia D. Luna; former DG Vicente Aquino; Managing Director Francisco Dakila Jr.; and AG Johnny Noe Ravalo.
Likha celebrates our cultural heritage by showcasing the BSP’s decorative arts collection which include intriguing pre-Hispanic pottery, finely-crafted Hispanic gold jewelry, expressive religious art, exquisite embroidery and cleverly designed. The editorial team included Dr. Jaime C. Laya who wrote the introduction, Ramon Villegas, Esperanza Bunag-Gatbonton, Cora Alvina, Cynthia Valdes and Martin Tinio,Jr.
Governor Tetangco said history must inform our country’s journey so that we can learn from the past and be better and stronger for the future.
“Together, the books provide a better understanding of who we are as a people, what we have achieved and what we can achieve,” Tetangco said.
