Big Glory Bay Salmon and Seafood Co. (BGB), a subsidiary of publicly listed canned fish exporter Alliance Select Foods International Inc. (ASFI), has started exporting fish products to leading establishments across Asia.

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, ASFI said its subsidiary’s first shipment was an order for cold salmon slices to a leading supermarket in Hong Kong.

BGB, which is based in General Santos City, next shipped smoked salmon in various sizes to one of the largest seafood importers in Japan.

According to ASFI corporate information officer Rajat Balain, BGB has a healthy set of orders for the export market.

The company’s smoked salmon products will also be available locally at fine retail and dining establishments.

“We expect orders to pick up significantly in the next few months as the firm’s marketing outreach program gains momentum and contribute significantly to ASFI’s growth and profitability,” the company said.

ASFI said its current key business activity is the processing, canning, and export of canned tuna, making up almost 84.20 percent of consolidated revenues in 2010.

The company exports its canned tuna products mainly to Europe and North America.

The company primarily is a “private label manufacturer” of canned tuna as it processes and packages tuna in institutional and retail pack can sizes using its customers’ brands. In the first six months of 2011, ASFI reported revenue of $20.459 million, and net income of $444,681.
