It is far from your traditional Chinese restaurant that brims with heavy decor and design.

But despite its no-frills, casual dining look, The Dimsum Place remains to be every Chinese food lover’s haven as it serves the widest assortment of dimsum ranging from noodles, pastries and dumplings.

“We are a restaurant that specializes in all kinds of dimsum. In the Philippines, when we say dimsum, what initially comes to mind is siomai, hakaw and siopao. But in countries like Hong Kong and Taiwan, dimsum is more than that,” said owner Andrea Joyce Ng Wen.

“Dimsum actually comprises of noodles, pastries, breads, and congee among others—so it’s not just pure dumplings. And through Dimsum Place we hope to educate diners what dimsum is all about by going beyond the usual fares,” she added.

Located at Il Centro, Sta. Lucia Mall in Cainta, The Dimsum Place offers a welcoming vibe and a casual ambience. Its interiors are quite easy on the eyes, thus making this nook just right for a Chinese meal shared with family and friends.

As the architect and interior designer were made aware of the owner’s preference for a basic yet classy design, The Dimsum Place was able to achieve an easygoing look that could entice every diner to go back.

The Dimsum Place used mostly glass and wood for its interiors, while the use of earth tones is evident in the selection of tables and in the wall colors.

“When you think of Chinese food, the first thing that comes to mind would be leaves, bamboo and panda. So for Dimsum Place, we deemed it better if we used wood and earth colors. We want to maintain the light interiors and that welcoming vibe. We did not overdo the design, in fact, what we did was to tone it down a bit. Unlike the usual Chinese resto that’s filled with decors, we made sure that this one would be easy on the eyes but heavy on food quality,” Ng Wen explained.

“The Dimsum Place is a relaxing establishment. And unlike your typical Chinese restaurants that are usually heavy on design and décor, ours is quite subtle and subdued as we don’t want diners to be overwhelmed by the design. Rather, we want them to focus on savoring our food,” she further related.

Indeed, The Dimsum Place is one casual establishment where diners can just come in and have their favorite dimsum either for dine in or to go.

Here, the atmosphere is laidback, comfortable and customers can just chill while savoring its delectable fares. Its chairs and tables were meanwhile set up in such a way that the resto can accommodate big groups and families.

“It’s all about enjoying dimsum. In fact, the Chinese characters in our logo say it all—when translated, these means that this place is where you can have fun and find happiness. Our branch can accommodate up to 100 persons,” Ng Wen concluded.
