Jobless rate up, underemployment down in January
The jobless rate rose in January even as the number of underemployed as a share of the labor force declined, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported Tuesday.
The PSA’s January 2017 Labor Force Survey showed that the unemployment rate rose to 6.6 percent from 5.7 percent in January 2016.
The underemployment rate, meanwhile, declined to 16.3 percent in January from 19.6 percent a year ago.
