This year’s Cannonball offered local and international drivers and riders, as well as motoring enthusiasts, a new, challenging circuit that traversed Northern Luzon. For Cannonball 2017, drivers had to complete the 500km run, filled with difficult turns and challenging twists, within 12 hours.
On January 7, participants took off from Royce Hotel & Casino in Clark, Pampanga at 2am, and made their way to Nueva Ecija, Aritao, Baguio, Pangasinan, Tarlac, and back to Clark. This was no easy feat but brothers Michael and Mickz Sabido, together with another car enthusiast Justin Estrella, were undaunted as they took on the touring event on their Peugeot 208 GTi, fuelled by TOTAL Excellium.
“We joined Cannonball last year, because we loved the adrenaline rush and the adventure. Thankfully, like this yePar’s run, we finished safely,” shared the two, who were one of the first teams to cross the finish line. “With our Peugeot, we felt confident on the road and enjoyed a smoother ride. Of course, we knew we could reach our destination in no time and finish strong!” said rider and car enthusiast Michael Sabido.
Sporty and built with the latest technology, the Peugeot 208 GTi by Peugeot Sport succeeds the legendary 205 GTi and revives the GTi badge for the new generation of passionate car enthusiasts. This powerful vehicle was well-primed for Cannonball as it was fuelled by TOTAL Excellium, the flagship fuel of TOTAL.
Enabling them to go further and perform better, TOTAL Excellium kept the engine clean kilometer after kilometer. Optimized with specific detergent additives, TOTAL Excellium protects your engine’s vital components. By eliminating deposits on fuel delivery systems, TOTAL Excellium keeps engines performing at their optimum level over time with reduced fuel consumption and lower CO2 emissions.
“It was a wild ride and it presented a different kind of challenge, but we pushed through. We can’t wait for next year’s run!” shared the drivers. For Cannonball 2017, riders Michael, Mickz and Justin showcased not only mastery over their Peugeot 208 GTi, but also the open road as they used their smart driving skills and proper driving etiquette to survive the circuit. Map reading skills, navigational instinct, and safe driving techniques came in handy on the endurance ride.
“Like with any run, you have to stay focused. It’s a combination of having the right car and the right fuel with the right mindset. You win when you have all three,” said Mickz Sabido.
TOTAL Excellium and Peugeot make for perfect partners on the road, ensuring safety, confidence and unparalleled performance on the road. Test the power of TOTAL Excellium and see too how far it can take you.
