Gokongwei-led property developer Robinsons Land Corp. is set to open a new 220-room hotel in Cebu City under its mid-to-upscale Summit Hotel and Resorts brand right beside its new shopping mall complex.
In a press statement on Monday, Robinsons Hotels general manager Elizabeth Gregorio said the newest hotel property Summit Galleria Cebu – group’s second Summit Hotel in Cebu City – would offer bigger guest rooms, large meeting and events facilities for higher capacity and multi-purpose use and a luxurious indoor swimming pool with bar lounge area for small, private parties.
Summit Galleria Cebu, which will open on March 14, will have guest rooms with a footprint of at least 32 square meters, a spa, a gym, a ballroom with a banquet capacity of up to 600, meeting rooms and ample parking space. It will occupy a 3.6-hectare lot beside the group’s newest shopping mall in the city.
“We decided to invest more in our facilities with the aim of developing the Summit Hotels and Resorts brand and give more value to our customers,” said Gregorio, noting that this property was particularly special to the group since the Gokongwei family traces its roots to Cebu.
One unique feature of the hotel is The Gokongwei Art Gallery, with curated art pieces depicting the humble beginnings of group patriarch John Gokongwei and his journey towards building one of the country’s biggest conglomerates. Guests, shoppers and art lovers alike can take a free tour of the Art Gallery located at the fourth floor access hallway to the Robinsons Galleria mall. This gallery will open in June this year.
Gregorio announced that Summit Galleria Cebu was offering a soft opening promo, slashing 60 percent off rack rates for all room types–including complimentary breakfast and signature guest perks for those booking direct at www.summithotels.ph and staying at this new property from April 1 to Sept. 30 this year.
During the soft opening period, the hotel will make final preparations for the completion of some facilities including its restaurant, swimming pool, gym and spa.
The new hotel is three blocks (1.6-kilometers) away from Cebu’s major seaports and about an hour (or 12-kms) away from the Mactan-Cebu International Airport.
Summit Galleria Cebu has an intimate lobby facing Benedicto Street and a direct access to Robinsons Galleria Cebu mall on the fourth floor level.
For the food and beverage outlets in the hotel, including room service, RLC has teamed up with the Raintree Restaurants Group, which is venturing outside Metro Manila for the first time. Raintree is the same group that has conceptualized, developed, managed and operated successful restaurant ventures in Metro Manila such as Museum Café, Chelsea Kitchen, Chelsea Grand Café, Rocket Room, Stella, Saboten, and Terraz among others.
Summit Galleria Cebu, through its partnership with Raintree, seeks to introduce to Cebu new food and beverage concepts showcasing authentic international and home-style Filipino cuisine that include an all-day dining restaurant, built with a coffee bar, a bistro, essential kitchen provisions and a retail area with local artisanal items. Raintree will likewise operate the ballroom and function venues available for business conferences and special events.
