The Philippine economy grew by a robust 6.8 percent last year even amid a transition in government between two administrations.
Full-year economic growth was within the 6-7 percent growth target of the Duterte administration for 2016.
Gross domestic product (GDP) expansion in the fourth quarter reached 6.6 percent, slower than the third quarter’s 7 percent.
As such, the economy in 2016 grew at its fastest pace in three years since 7.1 percent in 2013.
