Megaworld Corp., the flagship property developer of taipan Andrew Tan, is ramping up its presence in Negros Occidental.

Megaworld, a major builder of mixed-use communities in the country, announced it would build a commercial town center on the Bacolod side of its 53-hectare Northill Gateway township.

Construction will start early next year and is expected to be completed by early 2018.

The Northhill Town Center will occupy around 7.5 hectares. Megaworld described it as a sprawling horizontal commercial development composed mostly of stand-alone two-story structures of retail shops, dining establishments and landscaped parks.

The town center, which will be accessible along the Bacolod-Silay Airport Access Road, will also have a central plaza, an events venue, a supermarket, and wellness and sports facilities.

“The Northill Town Center will certainly become a destination not just for tourists and visitors of the province, but also for Negrenses who want to unwind and relax from the busy city life,” Kevin L. Tan, senior vice president and head of Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, said in the statement.
