(Editor’s Note: Inquirer Property will highlight in this new series called “Nook” quaint spaces and corners with their unique interiors that make for a perfect ambience. These are spaces where one can either work or simply hang out.)
It stands inconspicuously on a cantilevered mezzanine, blending well with the chic, elegant, yet minimalist interiors of the 8 Rockwell.
UCC’s Eight Coffee Bar, at a glance, looks as though it were a natural extension of this latest modern workplace, serving as a “perfect prelude to the vibrant office interiors” of one of the most sought office spaces in Makati to date.
And perhaps, rightfully so, as this cozy, stylish third wave café offers a light atmosphere, good coffee, and comfort food—the perfect nook to entertain clients and guests, or to simply hang out with friends and colleagues after a grueling day.
Interior designer Alice Erfe, who was responsible for the aesthetics of this elegant coffee corner explained: “Wood was used freely on the slatted accent walls and bar apron, with selected furnishing accents like Agi Pagkatipunan’s Console, Triboa Bay’s Wall art and Agi’s large accent wood topped bar table set right at the entry.”
The use of wood, Erfe added, was meant to add warmth to the stone, metal, and glass lobby interiors of the 8 Rockwell.
“Lacquered wood topped tables add a touch of chic while upholstered banquettes and light Scandinavian chair give the place a soft, cozy feel. Colorful touches of teal and orange fabrics give the UCC Café a young, happy ambiance…The UCC al fresco bar at the open veranda has even the fresher, natural garden feel with its woven furnishings accented by green and teal cushions,” Erfe further noted.
However, even the most premium ambience would lose its flavor sans the right pairing of food and coffee to make the visit well worth your time. And this particular café, which is collaboration between 8 Rockwell and UCC, did not disappoint at all.
This third wave café proudly showcased different brewing methods such as pour over, syphon, espresso and cold brew. It also specializes in specialty coffee, imported and Philippine single origin beans, as well as UCC’s signature blends, explained UCC’s marketing executive Janna Arceo.
According to Arceo, exclusive menu items available only at Eight Coffee Bar were the Adlai dishes and assorted pastries as well as UCC’s latest coffee innovation: the Nitro Draft Cold Brew Coffee, which “infuses nitrogen that adds pop and fizz to your coffee making it creamier with a foamy finish.”
“At Eight Coffee Bar, UCC proudly serves comfort food with healthy choices. Alongside our coffee bar, we serve cocktails, wine, beer and our very own spiked coffee drinks for coffeeholics,” she added.
