Local trade up as global demand dips
Over 150 manufacturers and exporters are tapping the local market to shore up sales given weak global demand, according to the Philippine Exporters Confederation Inc.
These companies are participating in the 30th Buy Pinoy Exporters Fair running from Oct. 17 to 23, during which local manufacturers are expecting to generate P9 million in sales. The trade fair was organized by Buy Pinoy Movement Foundation Inc. (BPMFI).
BPMFI trustee Cecilia Ramos was quoted as saying that local firms were downplaying the potential adverse impact of recent political developments on local businesses, instead expressing optimism that “business will continue” as the Christmas season nears.
