The four Shangri-La hotels in Manila, namely Edsa Shangri-La, Shangri-La at the Fort, Makati Shangri-La and Hotel Jen Manila, invited key local journalists and content creators to the launch of The Table by Golden Circle at the Grand Ballroom of Shangri-La at the Fort.
The Table is a new food and beverage loyalty program that offers unparalleled benefits to members who dine at Shangri-La properties both on the road and nearer to home. The dining program is the latest initiative in the ongoing transformation of Golden Circle, which has rolled out industry leading member benefits, new partnerships, exclusive offers and Golden Circle Event Planner Rewards during its nine-month Loyalty first anniversary campaign.
Manila was one of three key cities (the others were Hong Kong and Beijing) to roll out the global loyalty program through an exclusive event featuring a collaboration between Manila-based global designer Bea Valdes, and the executive chefs of the four Shangri-La hotels, in an evening of artistic and culinary imagination, revealed in five acts and mood.
As for the main design element, Mylar, a reflective material was used to counterbalance the density of the meat dishes.
“I wanted to go for a futuristic feel, but in a less polished way, like a slightly slicker Mad Max,” said Valdes. “So the rustic elements like the cast iron, large copper pots and wooden chopping block can meet sculptural cutlery and design that can push toward a contemporary edge.”
Guests then moved to the Grand Ballroom foyer for the fifth and last act: the Upbeat Mood, where they were greeted by a colorful balloon sculpture and a long acrylic able lit floating chocolate with magnetic and spinning hats, different colored chocolate balls that were smashed to reveal mousse and crumble fillings, lemon within a lemon with a lemon (lime tartlet with crispy meringue crumble and lime chips), live nitrogen ice cream, chilled pressed fruit, giant chocolate mushrooms, chocolate cylinders filled with passion fruit mousse, dulce de leche mille feuille crisps and lollipop cocktails.
