Toshiba brings new printers to market

Electronics giant Toshiba TEC Corp. and local distributor Tricom Dynamics Inc recently brought to the market what they claim to be their “most-revolutionized” multifunction printers in product history.

Ten models from the e-Studio series were introduced. Five models are classified under the two-color MFP series while the other five belong to the monochrome series.

Unlike the older multifunction printers in ivory, Toshiba’s new MFPs feature a modern sophisticated black matte look that is designed to complement modern business settings.

The MFPs blend newly engineered software and advanced hardware to address all the print, document management and workflow needs of corporations.

Each MFP also features a nine-inch tablet-style user interface, Intel’s new processor and Dual Scan Document Feeder.

Unlike other printers, Toshiba’s new MFPs also allow customization for high-tech user interface.

The latest e-Bridge Next Controller working with the UI provides the flexibility to cater to any user’s unique workflow needs.

“We are sure that ours is unique and that we definitely came out with a very customizable format so that we are able to provide the best convenience and service to the business world,” says Andy Ow, country manager for Philippines.

Ow adds that they have also prepared templates or setups for their target industries, particularly logistics, banking and education.

“Because we are very familiar with these industries and the way they function, we can easily customize the software or the apps that cater to [their] requirements,” he says.

But Ow says they are not limiting themselves to these industries.

They are also open to exploring legal and healthcare industries.

These sectors will likely appreciate the embedded optical character recognition  (OCR) applications of the printers designed to accomplish complex tasks.

Through the embedded OCR, conversion of documents to different type files becomes possible.

With the Embedded Application Platform, it has also become possible for MFPs to easily use embedded or third-party applications and connect to the cloud, enabling mobile users to work anywhere.

“The trend is moving towards mobile applications… We want to cater to this trend. We want our machines to be able to communicate freely with the mobile applications and also probably one day, what you see on your phone will be what you see on our user interface panel,” he says.

For user authentication and security purposes, the new MFPs require customized cards to operate.

Toshiba’s advanced e-Studio models also boast of a more durable and reliable engine to maximize operations and reduce the total cost of ownership.

With the launch of 10 new multifunction printers, Toshiba hopes to capture a bigger market share.

“We are confident that our product can address these big companies’ printing needs, so from there on we can capture a big market,” he adds.
