PSEi ends higher
The local stock barometer firmed up for the second session in a row Tuesday, tracking an uptick in oil prices and rising bets on global monetary easing measures.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) added 23.21 points or 0.29 percent to close at 7,983.38 as the second-quarter earnings reporting season ended.
The local market was led higher by the mining/oil index, which rose by 2.63 percent, while the financial and services counters both gained more than 1 percent. The holding firm counter ended with modest gain.
The industrial and property counters, on the other hand, both slipped.
Value turnover for the day amounted to P10.92 billion. There were 107 advancers that edged out 75 decliners while 59 stocks were unchanged. Doris Dumlao-Abadilla
