LAGUNA-based electronics manufacturer Cirtek Holdings Philippines Corp. has announced the ramp-up of its smart antenna production for US-based Quintel, supplier of some of North America’s leading telecom carriers.
In a press statement, Cirtek said the shipment of the first 1,000 units or smart antennas would take place in the next few days.
It was earlier reported that Quintel was pulling out of mainland China and refocusing on the Philippines’ Cirtek Advanced Technology and Solutions Inc. (CATS) as its dominant manufacturing supplier. Quintel designs, develops and delivers advanced antenna solutions that help mobile operators increase efficiency, enhance quality-of-service, slash costs and accelerate returns.
In line with this, Cirtek announced that it was adding new manufacturing space and increasing production capacity to support Quintel’s growing market share in North America.
For 2017, Cirtek expects business from Quintel to increase by 200 percent.
Cirtek has hired over 400 new personnel since the start of the Quintel project.
The local company has been contracted to manufacture MultiServ™ and SONWav™ antennas for Quintel.
Quintel recently expanded its industry-leading antennas, which in turn are being introduced into Cirtek’s manufacturing line.
Earlier, it was reported that Quintel had decided to move out of China due to concerns on intellectual property and quality, in turn benefiting the Philippines which is Quintel’s only other supplier in Asia.
Cirtek expects net profit growth this year to track the 8 to 10 percent expected expansion in revenues.
Last year, Cirtek grew its core profit by 35 percent to $5.1 million, driven by the growth in revenues from the semiconductor and broadband businesses. Consolidated revenue last year amounted to $59.6 million, an increase of 15 percent from the previous year. Semiconductor sales grew by 5 percent while sales from radio frequency, microwave and millimeterwave products grew at a faster pace of 46 percent.
