ABS-CBN Corp., the media holding company of the Lopez Group, named Antonio Ventosa as the new chief operating officer of SkyCable, the cable TV unit of ABS-CBN.
ABS-CBN said Ventosa would be responsible for the company’s overall business strategy and operations. The move comes as SkyCable expands nationwide with its recently launched direct-to-home service, SKYdirect.
ABS-CBN said Ventosa would also lead the company’s “aggressive expansion of its broadband business” SKYbroadband. ABS-CBN said this unit was growing faster than the wider broadband industry in the country.
Ventosa joined ABS-CBN in 2006 as head of marketing and moved to lead several business subsidiaries of the group, including Studio 23, Creative Programs Inc., ABS-CBN Publishing, DTT TV+ channels. Most recently, he was appointed OIC for ABS-CBN Corporation’s access business.
He was credited for leading the transformation of several brands and subsidiaries including the launch of ABS-CBN Sports and Action (formerly Studio 23) in 2014, the launch of Jeepney TV in 2013 for Creative Programs Inc. and DTT TV+ channels in 2015 and ABS-CBN Publishing’s shift to digital.
Prior to joining ABS-CBN, Ventosa was with the Leo Burnett group for over 20 years as managing director of Leo Burnett Manila and president of Black Pencil and Arc Worldwide.
