Blue Cross Philippines is now Pacific Cross Philippines

Leading medical and travel insurance specialist Blue Cross Insurance, Inc. along with its HMO subsidiary Blue Cross Health Care, Inc. have announced the change of their corporate names to Pacific Cross Insurance, Inc. and Pacific Cross Health Care, Inc. respectively.

This change is in line with the regional strategy of the Pacific Cross Group, of which Pacific Cross Philippines has long been a member. The Group has insurance businesses across several locations in South East Asia such as Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and Cambodia, along with other operating entities in Hong Kong. By coming together under a common name, the Group seeks to create a more integrated network and knowledge base that member companies can use to serve local customers better. Bolstered by the collective experience of more than six decades in the insurance industry, the change cements the Pacific Cross Group’s commitment to invest and build its brand as a leading ASEAN specialist provider of medical and travel insurance.

According to Mr. John Casey, President and CEO of Pacific Cross, the name change marks another milestone in the company’s history.

“Our company has grown in leaps and bounds in recent years. This transition to become Pacific Cross will further boost our capabilities and enhance our services for our clients,” said Casey. “Here in the Philippines, we have two key operations – one under our insurance company, Blue Cross Insurance, Inc. now called Pacific Cross Insurance, Inc. and another one under our HMO subsidiary Blue Cross Health Care, Inc. now called Pacific Cross Health Care, Inc. As a collective brand and business, our strategic direction is to constantly improve the way we serve our customers, and this change is just one of many projects we are undertaking to provide our clients with a better customer experience.”

Established in 1949, Blue Cross Philippines (now Pacific Cross) has grown to be one of the strongest brands in the local medical and travel insurance industry. According to the 2015 IC Rankings, Pacific Cross now ranks number 9 among 70 non-life insurance companies in terms of net income. Pacific Cross also wrote over P910 million in premiums in 2015.

With its new identity as Pacific Cross, the company will also leverage on the strength of its regional network to take advantage of opportunities brought by the ASEAN integration.

“Integrating the practices of more developed market members with our own operations will also further boost our current position as an industry leader. As CEO not only of the Philippine operations, but of the entire Pacific Cross Group, I am quite pleased that we are at the forefront of change as the ASEAN integrates in the coming years,” Casey added.

At present, Pacific Cross is expanding its reach by setting up new agencies in strategic locations across the country. The company is also enhancing its medical and travel products to provide additional benefits for clients. In addition, Pacific Cross is upgrading its technology platforms in order to make servicing more efficient, and strengthening its digital presence to provide clients with more convenient ways to access products and services.

Committed to continuous growth in the context of a dynamic insurance environment, Pacific Cross ensures its customers and partners that they will continue to enjoy their current benefits, while also gaining access to an array of improvements in the near future – better policy coverage, stronger 24/7 call center capability, additional sales and servicing centers, as well as other initiatives all aimed at enhancing customer experience.

“While our name has changed, our essence as a company remains the same. We operate business as usual, and continue with our claims paying services,” shared Casey. “At the core of our business is our ability to be there for our customers when they need us the most and pay their claims. We continue to be here for our clients, and as we move forward, they can expect to see increasing improvements in our level of service.”
