Electricity rates go down again in June, lowest in over 6 years

03:20 PM June 14, 2016

Meralco announced that the residential rate for a typical 200 kWh household went down this June by around PhP0.13 per kilowatthour (kWh), thereby bringing it down to PhP8.32 per kWh, the lowest since January 2010. This month’s decrease translates to a reduction of around PhP25 in their electricity bill. The reduction was due to the downward movement in the generation charge, which more than offset a higher transmission charge.

To help prepare for the rainy season, Meralco also offers a free text alert service, for customers to stay updated on power interruptions and service maintenance schedules.
