Chinese investors increasingly enthusiastic about Indonesia

Chinese investors are getting more enthusiastic about putting money into Indonesia, with investment indicators showing a positive trend of investment flow from the country, according to consultant firm RSM Indonesia.

RSM Indonesia chairman Amir Abadi Jusuf said Chinese investors were getting more open in accessing information on investment potential in Indonesia. There was also an improvement in the investment climate, he added.

“Chinese investors’ interest and curiosity is very big. They are coming more often to discuss doing business in the country, the prospective sectors, and learning about Indonesia’s banking industry road map,” he said in Jakarta on Monday.

The increasing investment interest in Indonesia, Amir continued, could be seen from investment realisation data in the last year that reached US$464.6 million in the first quarter of 2016, a 518.6 per cent hike compared to the same period in 2015.

“That amount of investment has made the Chinese the fourth-biggest investors after Singapore, Japan and Hong Kong,” he said.
