Manila Water spent P2.4-B in Q1 capex
MANILA WATER Co. Inc. yesterday said it implemented projects worth P2.4 billion for the first quarter alone and that for the full-year 2011, it would spend more than its 2010 capital investment of P9.6 billion.
Manila Water is working closely with the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) for the development of new water sources that will serve as a buffer for the Angat River in Bulacan. Angat supplies 97 percent of Metro Manila’s water supply, making it the major water supply source for drinking water for the metropolis.
Laguna Lake has been identified as a possible alternative water source. Apart from the lake, Manila Water and the MWSS continue to look for alternative water sources that can possibly be activated within the next 18 to 24 months.
The implementation of the P3.2-billion Rodriguez water treatment plant project is underway while large major pipelines are being laid along Marcos Highway, Edsa, Ortigas and Kalayaan in Makati.
