Puregold joins e-revolution, opens online grocery store
Retailer Puregold Price Club Inc. has jumped into the e-commerce bandwagon with the launch of a mobile application and an online grocery service.
These latest offerings were expected to further strengthen and expand Puregold’s foothold in the domestic market. The company was also planning to set up a separate business unit to handle its e-commerce business.
During a “Tindahan ni Aling Puring” (TNAP) convention on Wednesday, Puregold president Vincent Co told reporters the app can be used to avail of promos and discounts, tap other services such as money transfer and to locate stores.
The app is already available on Android. It would be offered on the Apple store by June or July.
The online grocery service would be offered initially to TNAP members since Puregold wanted to study the said scheme first prior to making it available to the general public. TNAP members are the sari-sari store owners who are beneficiaries of Puregold’s assistance program.
Co said the pilot phase would enable the firm to study the buying habits of the customers, thus allowing it to make the necessary adjustments and identify which products should be offered.
Puregold vice president for operations Antonio E. de los Santos said the firm was looking to roll out the online grocery service for TNAP members by next quarter and for the public, by yearend.
The launch of these new offerings would complement Puregold’s yearly expansion plan, which targets to open at least 25 new stores yearly. Puregold currently has 255 stores under its portfolio.
