SAN FRANCISCO–The Chicago-area location of the Jollibee fast-food chain will open by “mid-year 2016,” according to a notice posted on the company’s website.

It will be the company’s first location in the U.S. Midwest. Jollibee officials announced the project last February 2015 for a strip mall location in the Chicago suburb of Skokie.

Chicagoland’s big Filipino population is anticipating the location’s opening on 3534 West Touhy Ave., Skokie, Illinois, in the 60076 zip code, and its Filipino-style spaghetti and burgers.

Jollibee has 32 locations in the U.S., with 22 in California. It runs more than 2,500 locations around the world. The Skokie spot on West Touhy Avenue would be the first in Illinois.
