Novo Nordisk supports ‘Kick Diabetes’ SunPIOLOgy Run

12:01 AM January 09, 2016

Diabetes care leader Novo Nordisk supported the SunPIOLOgy Run held recently at McKinley West in Fort Bonifacio. This year’s theme was “Kick Diabetes.”

Ranked in the top 15 in the world for diabetes prevalence, the Philippines is one of the world’s emerging diabetes hotspots. About 3.3 million people in the Philippines have diabetes, affecting one in 16 of the country’s adult population. An estimated 1.74 million Filipinos remain undiagnosed and are therefore untreated, putting them at risk for complications such as heart attack, blindness, kidney failure and loss of limbs.

“By joining SunPIOLOgy Run, we do our part to prevent and control diabetes and also help send more poor Filipino students to school. Let’s run together for a healthier Philippines,” said actor Piolo Pascual.
