PSEi shed 3.85% at close of ’15

The local stock market is on a long holiday break to welcome the New Year.

Financial markets have been on a holiday since Wednesday (Dec. 30), a national non-working holiday to commemorate national hero Jose Rizal’s death and remained closed on Thursday for the New Year celebration.

In the last two weeks of 2015, trading activity at the local stock market had been thin as many traders and investors were on a long holiday break.

The Philippine Stock Exchange index ended on a bearish note for the first time in six years in 2015, giving up a total of 278.49 points or 3.85 percent to close at 6,952.08.

Normal trading will resume on Monday, Jan. 4, the first trading day of 2016.
