ABS-CBN, GMA both claim lead in Nov. ratings war

The country’s two largest television networks claimed a lead in ratings for the month of November, citing their respective third-party research companies.

GMA Network Inc., citing data from Nielsen TV Audience Measurement, posted a 39.3 percent total day household audience share as against  ABS-CBN’s 33.6 percent and TV5’s 8.2 percent.

Citing Kantar Media, ABS-CBN on the other hand, said it was the most watched TV network in the country last November after getting an average audience share of 42 percent from combined urban and rural homes against GMA’s 38 percent.

GMA said it maintained its performance in the daytime block with its audience share of 36.3 percent against ABS-CBN’s 30.2 percent and TV5’s 10.7 percent. In the afternoon block, GMA was also ahead with its share of 46.4 percent versus ABS-CBN’s 28.2 percent and TV5’s 7.1 percent.

“GMA also kept its stronghold in viewer-rich Urban Luzon and Mega Manila, which represent 77 percent and 59 percent, respectively, of all urban TV households in the country,” the company said.

In Urban Luzon, GMA recorded 44.1 percent compared to ABS-CBN’s 29 percent and TV5’s 7.3 percent. In Mega Manila, GMA got 46.3 percent, ahead of ABS-CBN’s 25.5 percent and TV5’s 7.6 percent.

For its part, ABS-CBN said it has kept a stronghold of the primetime block, hitting an average audience share of 49 percent nationwide versus its rival’s 33 percent.
