Thousands of jobs offered at fairs

THOUSANDS of local and overseas jobs are up for grabs in about 40 job fairs that the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will be holding in November and December in Metro Manila and other parts of the country.

Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz did not say how many companies would be taking part in the job fairs. But she expressed confidence the agency would be able to “open up more opportunities for job seekers.”

In a statement, issued at the 15th National Peso (Public Services Offices) Congress held at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City, Baldoz said “job fairs are more viable and more economical venues to search for workers and jobs.”

Baldoz thanked employers for their “tireless participation in year-round job fairs,” which she said were part of DOLE’s strategies in pursuit of the Aquino administration’s 22-point labor and employment agenda.

The administration has been pushing for “investing in our country’s human resources to make us more competitive and employable,” and addressing job mismatch, she said.
