RCBC aims for top rank

Yuchengco-led Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC) aims to crack the industry’s top three in terms of size in the next four years amid its aggressive expansion in the retail space.

Senior RCBC officials on Thursday said it would rely largely on technology that makes services more convenient to grow the bank’s client base.

By 2019, RCBC first vice-president Emmanuel Valdes said the bank wanted to have a total of 12 million clients, or the equivalent of a tenth of the country’s population, up from 5.5 million this year.

“It’s doable. That’s the vision. We have a population of 100 million people and sadly, only 20 percent is banked,” he told reporters in a conference.

To reach this goal, the bank has focused on making its services more convenient.
