Crown Asia bags Naia tollroad supply deal

Plastic compounds and pipe manufacturer Crown Asia Chemicals Corp. has bagged a deal to supply the piping requirements of the P15.86-billion Naia Expressway project, thereby making a pitch as an infrastructure play.

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) on Wednesday, Crown Asia said it would supply the PVC pipes for the Naia Expressway phase 2 project, which started construction this month.

The Naia Expressway project is a public private partnership (PPP) venture intended to provide interconnecting access to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport and the Pagcor Entertainment City through a four-lane elevated expressway. Upon completion, travel time from the Skyway to Naia is expected to be slashed from 24.3 minutes to 8.2 minutes.

“The quality and consistency of our products has made us a reliable partner for government projects. The Naia Expressway undertaking is a clear testament to this,” said Derrick Villanueva, general manager of Crown Asia pipes division. “PPP projects are seen to bring long-term benefits to the general public. On our part, we ensure that quality standards are maintained.”

Villanueva said Crown Asia would make sure that its products would comply with or exceed the benchmark set by the Philippine National Standards with the help of in-house chemical engineers who retrieve samples from production lines at random shifts for product testing.
