/ 12:09 AM October 13, 2015

The SM group is set to reopen two modernized “one-stop-shop” branches of newly acquired grocery chain Cherry Foodarama this week, thereby revitalizing the legacy grocery brand as part of the group’s nationwide retail expansion.

The first Cherry store under the management of SM Markets is set to open in Shaw Boulevard today while the Congressional Ave. branch in Quezon City is set to open on Oct. 15, the SM group announced in a statement Monday.

The two stores promise to offer “more products and services aligned to their commitment to deliver world-class shopping at everyday affordable prices,” SM Markets said.

Like what it has done in the past, SM Markets said Cherry Shaw and Congressional would offer not only food and grocery items but also clothes, toys and home improvements. SM Markets said the two Cherry stores would have wider offerings of fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, poultry and seafood. They will also have new assortments of groceries featuring a healthy mix of imported and all-time Pinoy favorites. The stores also retail appliances, furniture, home/kitchen ware as well as health and wellness through Watsons pharmacy.

The Cherry stores will also have bills payment counters for added convenience.

Under the old management, Cherry Foodarama operated for decades as a community grocery store.

“Now looking refreshed and a bit more modernized, loyal Cherry shoppers will be glad to see their favorite markets looking better than ever while still keeping the classic Cherry feel,” SM Markets said.

“The old stores get much needed makeovers to keep up with the times and continue delivering satisfaction to their loyal customers,” the group said.

The SM Group acquired a majority stake in the Cherry Foodarama chain earlier this year. Apart from the Congressional and Shaw branches, the franchise has a third store in Antipolo. Doris Dumlao-Abadilla
