THERE’S a new board game in town called “Praxis” which has been designed to make learning about financial planning “fun and exciting” for Filipinos.
The new board game – which targets working people as well as teenagers as young as 14 – was introduced by Sun Life Grepa Financial Inc. on Friday in line with its financial literacy advocacy. It is ideally played by five participants per game.
This game was licensed from a Singaporean game designer Sense for Money.
Basic financial processes like budgeting and saving, as well as more complex ones like investing in stocks and protection planning, are tackled in this game. It also simulates real-life events – such as getting promotion, catching illnesses and losing a job – to force players to make financial decisions amid different economic cycles.
“Talking about finances and understanding things related to it, like the concepts of insurance and investments, can be intimidating or overwhelming to many Filipinos. Praxis is a new approach that can help address this,” Sun Life Grepa president Richard Lim said.
The board games are not commercially available but will be rolled out by Sun Life Grepa to various institutions, including corporations and schools, upon request.
