SOLAR Philippines Power Project Holdings Inc. and an affiliate of Megawide Construction Corp. are set to expand the capacity of their first venture together to qualify for renewable energy incentives.
Solar Philippines president Leandro Leviste said they will increase the capacity of the Calatagan power project to 70 megawatts from 60 MW. The project is the company’s first venture with Megawide’s sister firm, Citicore Power Inc.
“Everything has been ordered… allowing us to commission the project by the end of the year. We’re well in advance [against] other projects racing for the feed-in-tariff,” Leviste said.
He said the partners were able to hurdle an interconnection problem, which will allow the solar plant to insert more capacity into the grid. Riza T. Olchondra
