PH stocks continue decline

THE BENCHMARK Philippine Stock Exchange index declined further on Thursday despite paring losses earlier in the session.

Stocks across the region ended mixed.

Data from the local bourse showed that the PSEi was down 0.14 percent, or 9.36 points, to 6,917.55 on Thursday.

The broader all shares index was down 0.1 percent, or 4.01 points, to 3,991.08.

Sub-sectors also saw mixed results on Thursday.

The Industrial sector led gainers with a 0.54-percent increase, followed by mining and oil, and financials.

The biggest decliner was services, down 0.74 percent, followed by holding companies, down 0.6 percent.

A total of 1.1 billion shares changed hands, valued at P7.09 billion.

Data from the PSE showed a total of 73 companies saw their shares advance against 96 decliners and 45 unchanged.

Consunji-led Semirara Mining and Power Corp. led the list of most actively traded stocks, with a decrease of 1.25 percent to P134.70 per share.

This was followed by Universal Robina Corp., up 3.28 percent to P192, Ayala Corp., down 2.57 percent to P740 per share, Ayala Land Inc., unchanged at P34, and SM Prime Holdings Inc., down 0.30 percent to P19.84 per share. Miguel R. Camus
