BROADCASTING firm GMA Network (GMA 7) said the complaint it had filed against Sky Cable Corp. at the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) was backed by “numerous” complaints received from viewers.
The complaint was filed following reports of poor cable signal during the airing of the noontime show Eat Bulaga, allegedly during it’s hit “KalyeSerye” or street series segment featuring the popular “AlDub” romance. The segment features entertainers Maine Mendoza, more popularly known as “Yaya Dub,” and Alden Richards as well as comedians Jose Manalo and Wally Bayola.
“Instead of merely saying that GMA’s complaint is malicious and without basis, SkyCable would do well to refute the specific complaints of GMA’s viewers submitted to the NTC, where the case is now pending,” the broadcasting firm said.
Sky Cable is affiliated with GMA’s rival broadcasting firm, ABS-CBN Corp.
In a letter dated Aug. 25, GMA senior vice president for engineering Elvis Ancheta and vice president for legal affairs Lynn Delfin sought NTC’s immediate action, citing the welfare of SkyCable subscribers, “who are being short-changed through the irresponsible acts of their service provider.”
GMA 7 said this was a violation of section 6 of the NTC’s revised rules and regulations governing cable television systems in the Philippines.
