CONSUNJI-led DMCI Holdings Inc. has qualified to bid for the P50.18-billion build-transfer-maintain regional prison facility project offered under the government’s public-private-partnership (PPP) framework.
This makes DMCI the third bidder to qualify for the prison infrastructure project. San Miguel Corp. and a consortium led by Megawide Corp. earlier pre-qualified for the project.
Reversing an earlier decision to disqualify DMCI due to documentary deficiencies, the pre-qualifications, bids and awards committee (PBAC) of project proponent Department of Justice said it now deemed DMCI as qualified after a thorough deliberation and re-evaluation of the pre-qualification documents submitted by the construction and engineering conglomerate.
Earlier deficiencies were subsequently clarified in a motion for reconsideration, DMCI told the Philippine Stock Exchange on Thursday.
The regional prison facilities PPP project, the first of its kind in the country, includes the construction and maintenance of a modern prison facility in Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija. Once completed, the facility can accommodate over 26,000 inmates. It will also include staff housing, administrative buildings and rehabilitation areas.
