Outstanding gov’t IOUs hit P3.84T in first half

THE AMOUNT of outstanding debt paper issued by the national government slightly rose to P3.84 trillion in end-June from P3.82 trillion a month ago, the latest Treasury data showed.

Treasury bonds made up the bulk of outstanding IOUs as of the end of the first half with a face amount totaling P3.56 trillion, up from P3.54 trillion in end-May.

End-June outstanding treasury bills reached P275.2 billion, down from P279.7 billion in the previous month.

Of the outstanding treasury bills, P87 billion came from the auction of 91-day debt paper, P86.8 billion from 182-day IOUs and P101.5 billion from 364-day bills.

For the outstanding treasury bonds, three-year debt paper stood at P146.5 billion; four-year IOUs, P8.8 billion; five-year bonds, P175.7 billion; seven-year paper, P505.7 billion, and 10-year bonds, P406.8 billion.

As for the 10-year Agrarian Reform bonds, the outstanding amount was P6.1 billion; 20-year debt paper, P336.1 billion; and 25-year debt paper, P250.3 billion.

Of the $6.58-million Philippine Par bonds rescheduled into 28.5 years, P97.1 million remained outstanding.

Also still outstanding were P804.9 billion in retail treasury bonds; P850 billion in benchmark bonds; P50 billion in 25-year CB-BoL T-bonds; and P22.6 billion in onshore dollar T-bond.
