PSEi ends higher

Philippine stocks swung between gains and losses on Thursday as the rest of the region ended mixed while Wall Street declined overnight.

From losses early on in the session, the benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) closed positive as it gained 0.23 percent, or 17.60 points, to 7,653.22. The broader all-shares index likewise ended higher by 0.25 percent, or 11.03 points, to 4,369.53.

All sub-sectors closed in the green, save for the property sub-index, which was down 0.46 percent. Gainers were led by mining and oil, up 1.61 percent, followed by industrial firms, up 0.93 percent, and services, up 0.34 percent.

A total of 3.33 billion shares valued at P7.32 billion changed hands and 95 companies gained while 76 closed in the red and 45 firms were unchanged.

The Consunji family’s Semirara Mining Corp. led the list of most actively traded companies as it jumped 6.21 percent to P118.  Miguel R. Camus
