Singapore Airlines unveils new SilverKris lounge in Manila

Manila, Philippines – Singapore Airlines has unveiled its new-concept SilverKris Lounge in Manila at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3. Thoughtfully designed and modelled after elements of a home, the new ‘home away from home’ concept SilverKris Lounge is part of Singapore Airlines’ ongoing program to upgrade all its airport lounges around the world.

Designed by renowned interior design firm ONG&ONG following extensive customer research, the new SilverKris Lounge features tailored personal spaces that offer a sense of ‘being home’, specially curated art pieces as well as a culinary spread that provide a taste of both Singapore and the Philippines. Comprehensively trained lounge hosts are also on site to ensure that customers will experience the familiar hospitality that extends from the ground to the air to the ground, epitomized by the signature personalized service that Singapore Airlines is known for.

Present during the launch were Singapore Ambassador to the Philippines Kok Li Peng, Department of Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima, Department of Transportation and Communications Undersecretary Jose Perpetuo Lotilla, Department of Tourism Undersecretary Benito Bengzon Jr, Civil Aeronautics Board Executive Director Carmelo L. Arcilla, as well as executives from Singapore Airlines led by Regional Vice President for Southeast Asia Philip Goh, and General Manager Philippines Carol Ong.

“Manila is our fourth station globally after Sydney, Hong Kong and London, and the first in South-East Asia, to receive this new concept. This is a multi-million dollar investment to renovate our 15 lounges across the world,” said Mr. Philip Goh, Regional Vice President for Southeast Asia.

“Launching our new SilverKris Lounge concept here in Manila is especially meaningful as the Philippines has always been known for its traditional warmth and hospitality, and it is a very important market for us. This year, we mark our 49th year of operations in Manila and we are proud to reaffirm our commitment to the aviation and tourism industry here,” added Mr. Goh.

The launch of the new SilverKris Lounge featured a lively and colorful Lion Dance. TV Host and Singapore Airlines frequent flyer David Celdran was the master of ceremonies and led the guests to a tour of the new lounge.

Singapore Airlines Batik

The frontage of the new SilverKris Lounge showcases Singapore Airlines’ unique heritage distinguished by a signature batik design screen located at the welcome foyer. The iconic Singapore Airlines sarong kebaya is instantly recognized worldwide. It is also the inspiration of the Signature screen at the entrance of the lounge. The delicately transparent pattern offers a hint of what lies beyond.

Well-defined Spaces 

Customers can enjoy flexible and dedicated spaces as the 450-square meter lounge offers a total of 117 comfortable seats. Customers can make use of personal spaces tailored for different needs, ranging from a gallery, living room and dining room for rest and relaxation. The signature SIA armchairs will be a new feature at all refurbished SilverKris Lounges. Specially designed productivity pods are also available for customers to work in privacy and comfort. The pods enable various seating positions with support, privacy and comfort, complete with electric sockets and USB ports. Coupled with free high speed WiFi connection, travelers can stay connected with their family and work.

Curated Filipino Artwork

At the heart of the lounge is an elegant art piece by Filipino sculptor Impy Pilapil. Specially commissioned by Singapore Airlines to add a touch of Filipino glamour to its new home, Pilapil came up with an inspired interpretation of the incredible experience of flying.

Besides the art piece, the living and dining rooms are also adorned with carefully selected paintings from SilverLens Gallery, specially curated for SIA customers. As a way of showcasing and promoting Filipino talent, the new SilverKris Lounge features various art pieces by Filipino artists giving the space a ‘home away from home’ feel, bringing to mind a familial living room where friends and family get together. SIA, in partnership with Silverlens Gallery, are working together to promote Filipino talent and arts.

Culinary Spread Featuring A Taste of Singapore and the Philippines

Customers will get to enjoy local signatures from Singapore such as Hainanese chicken rice and laksa, and comforting authentic Filipino delights such as Kaldereta and Bicol Express. For passengers looking for some wholesome goodness, the salad bar and selection of healthy options will satisfy. And for passengers looking for a more filling options, dishes such adobo rice, beef tapa and vegetable stroganoff pasta are examples of what are offered. And of course, the best way to round up a meal is a fine selection of Ice cream and desserts. Complementing these delectable treats is a range of premium drinks, including wines, beers and spirits. The SilverKris Lounge menu is regularly refreshed, to provide customers with a greater variety of dishes.

Customers can enjoy access to the lounges if travelling on Suites, First or Business Class, or are members of the PPS Club and KrisFlyer Elite Gold departing on Singapore Airlines operated flights as well as STAR Alliance Gold card members departing on STAR operated flights.
